Mile of Pennies
EQUIVALENT TO 12.63 MILES
A massive thank-you to everyone who has donated pennies to our Cancer Research UK Relay For Life mile of pennies appeal. We have now reached our £10,000 total which is equal to 12.63 miles - Peterhead to Toll O' Birness. We intend to keep collecting your pennies to help in the fight agains cancer and are now heading to Ellon so keep the coins rolling in.
Remember - your small change can make a big difference.
Peterhead Scottish Week is delighted to announce that they are now accepting nominations for the Buchan Queen Competition 2017. They are looking for someone with that 'special sparkle' and are sure you know the perfect girl? Judging will take place at the Waterside Inn on 3rd June at 7pm. Ellon & District Art Group annual exhibition in the Upper Room, Kirk Centre, Station Road, Ellon from 8.00am - 8.00pm and 8.00am - 4.00pm tomorrow. Members will exhibit a wide range of paintings, crafts and greeting cards followed by the now famous Silent Auction and Grand Raffle. Entry is free and all are welcome.
Saturday 27th May
The Fraserburgh Cats Protection branch are having an Open Day at thier Rehoming Centre in Longside. Come along and meet all of the beautiful cats and kittens in care. Coffee, Tea, Juice and a copious amount of homebakes to enjoy. Adults cost £2.50 to enter while children are £1. Due to very limited parking, please call 01779 821629 for a time open between 10 and 4.
A fundraising car boot sale will be held at the Peterhead Central School from 10am to 12pm. To book a pitch which costs £10, call Janice on 07971 177 285. Tables can be provided. Funds raised for the School.
The Fraserburgh Bowling Club, Strichen Road, are having a Buttery Morning at their premises from 10am to 12pm.

The Fraserburgh Sea Cadets fun day will be held from 11am to 4pm at the Sandhaven harbour with boat rides, BBQ, face painting, bouncy castles and lots more fun on the day including a car boot sale. Call 01345 512485 to book table.
Sunday 28th May
A day in the country with DAWGS. Local dog re-homing charity DAWGS is holding its biggest event of the year at Haddo Country Park, near Ellon from 12.30pm till 4.30pm. A day in the country with DAWGS includes fun dog shows and activities, a bouncy castle, BBQ, stalls, games and much much more. Entry is free and all are welcome.
An open day will be held at the Fraserburgh West End Bowling Club, Union Grove from 12 - 4 pm. All members of the public are welcome. Light refreshments along with sandwiches, sausage rolls and home bakes available to purchase.

A fundraising bingo night will be held at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre at 7 for a 7.30 start. The event is in aid of Basketball Scotland and entry is payable at the door on the evening.
Wednesday 31st May
Relay For Life team, Disney Kids prize bingo in Crimond Community Centre at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 for 6 books, £3 for 3. Refreshments will be provided and all ages are welcome. Raffle donations would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds to Cancer Research UK.
Thursday 1st June
Relay For Life team "Davie & Fraser's Gang" fashion show, with compere Doreen Duncan, in the The Palace Hotel, Peterhead at 7.00pm. Tickets, priced at £5.00 which includes refreshments, are available from Linda Hutchison on 01779 821449 or 07880 254876. All proceeds to Cancer Research UK.
All Saints Episcopal Church, Strichen is holding an art exhibition on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd June from 11am till 6.30pm and on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June from 11am till 4pm. Entry is free and a catalogue will cost £2. Tea and coffee will be available in the church.
Friday 2nd June
A Quiz Night to be held at the Bancar Hotel, Lonmay at 7pm for 7.30 start. £10 per team. Raffles and refreshments available. In aid of Relay for Life Team Faimley n Freens.
Saturday 3rd June
Frank Jack Court, Peterhead Open Day from 10.30am - 4.00pm. Entry is £2.50 which includes tea or coffee, butteries or pancakes. Children admitted free. There will also be raffles and a bottle stall.
A Hollywood party night will be held at the Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club, Peterhead with prizes for the best dressed, a finger buffet, raffles and there is live music from local band The Colours. Doors open at 7pm. Over 18s only. Tickets are £15 per person available from the venue itself or by texting 07752 720 175. Proceeds in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Fraserburgh Lifeboat station open day will kick off with Fraserburgh Royal British Legion Pipeband parading through the town centre and then 2 rockets fired to signal the start. Come along and see aboard Fraserburgh Trent class lifeboat, meet the crew, hear about the rescues they have taken part in and ask for any advice. BBQ, ice cream' n' strawberries, tea & coffee, homebakes, lucky dips, raffles, hook a duck, face painting, Disco, local dance groups, live music from local band Howling Gale, Invercairn Flute band, RNLI Community Safety Officer giving sea Safety advice and lifejacket clinic, Macduff Lifeboat and Launch vehicle in attendance. So come along and support your local Lifeboat station.
The Boddam Junior Model Yachting Association will be holding its annual racing at the Den Dam at 2pm (weather permitting). Boats names, sizes and children’s names and ages must be given to any committee member or call the club secretary George Cordiner on 01779 471 452 before Wed 31st May.

Monday 12th June
An inflatable fun day in aid of ‘Taking Jamie Home’ will be held in the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Broch Holiday) from 11am to 3pm. Entry is £7 per child for a days access. All money will go towards the fund for Jamie who is now severely brain damaged following a RTA in January 2016. Funds will contribute towards buying a suitable home for the family.
Sunday 25th June
A charity truck pull by local woman Sam Edmiston will be held at Powerzone Strength Gym in Boddam at 1pm and all the proceeds from the event will go to the Cancer Research UK Relay for Life Team of Maureen Edmiston, who is a cancer survivor and Sam’s mother.
Macmillan Cancer Support and Aberdeenshire Council have teamed up to help people affected by cancer keep active and move more. They are looking for volunteers in Peterhead and Fraserburgh to help with this exciting initiative. They require Walk Leaders, Circuit Support Assistants, Garden Volunteers and Gentle Movement Volunteers. Why Suffer in Silence is a person centered non-judgmental emotional listening support Service for Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Mental Health. Could you spare 1 hour a week to make a life changing difference to a young persons future? Befriend a Child are looking to recruit volunteer mentors in Banff, Fraserburgh & Peterhead to be matched with a young person at a local Secondary School. Mentors support a young person to re-engage with education if, for whatever reason, they are not attending school or are in a cycle of exclusions. In addition mentors encourage their young person to think about their future pathway to a positive destination: higher/further education or employment. A new support group “It’s All About Me” for sufferers of M.E & F.M Chronic Fatigue Syndrome meets at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Lounge Area).
