On the 5th December, on the eve of our birthday, we finally reached Ellon with a total of £13,566.96. We have now decided to start again and this time we head from Peterhead to The Broch and already we have raised another £468.51, just over half a mile.

Sunday 25th February

The Fraserburgh Angling Club AGM will be held at 2.30pm, in the Dalrymple Hall. All members are welcome to attend. Permits will be on sale. Members unable to be present, should apply for renewal by post only, sending a SAE and cheque (fee same as last year) to the club secretary, James Watson, 11 Maconochie Road, Fraserburgh, AB43 8TH. Applications not received by the 28th March, will automatically lapse. Members can view the agenda and proposed 2018 outings on the club website.

Monday 26th February

The Fraserburgh Bluelight Festival are holding a prize bingo at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre at 7pm for 7.30pm.

Wednesday 28th February

Banff & District Accordion and Fiddle Club meeting with George Rennie at Banff Springs Hotel at 7.30pm. For further information, please call 01346 518754.

The Mustard Seed Charity Café, operated by St Kane's Church in New Deer is due to re-open during March and is looking for volunteers who will be given the opportunity to gain an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. The Café will be open from Mon to Fri between 10am and 4pm. If you feel you can help in this new venture visit the café for a volunteers an open day on Wednesday the 28th of February from 10am to 3.30pm. Further details from Wilma 01771 644 673.

Saturday 3rd March

Messy Church at Peterhead Methodist Church takes place from 10am with fun, crafts and food for all the family.

A Buttery Morning is being held from 10am to 12 noon at the Fraserburgh United Reformed Church Hall to raise funds for Scott McKenzie to help him with treatment to stop his MS Progression. Treatment will take place in Mexico. There will be various stalls, please come along and support Scott.

Sunday 4th March

Fun for all the family at The Ritchie Hall, Strichen with Bingo, Afternoon Tea and homebakes from 1.30pm. All proceeds in aid of Ritchie Hall Funds.

The Aberdeen Sinfonietta Flute Quartet will be playing at Aden Theatre, Mintlaw from 4 to 6pm.  Tickets are £12 which includes refreshments.  Children will be admitted free.  For more information, call 01771 624268 or email friends@music-at-aden.co.uk.

Thursday 8th March

Prize Bingo, in aid of MND Scotland, at Peterhead Football Club at 6.30pm for a 7.30 start. Tickets, priced at £1.50 which includes refreshments, are available at the door or contact Joan or Allison Wilson on facebook. Come along and support people affected by Motor Neurone Dosease.

Saturday 10th March

SBP Accountants are hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of their sponsored charity, Clan, which will take place from 10am to 12pm at the new Clan Suite inside the Crimond Medical Centre. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at any SBP office.

A ‘Family Fun Orienteering Day’ hosted by Strichen School takes place at the Strichen Lake from 12 - 3pm. There will be a fun orienteering course, a penalty shoot-out, escape the forest team building, a BBQ, and stalls with games and home bakes. Funds raised will pay for the schools entry to J-Rock at the AECC later in the month.

The Fraserburgh United Reformed Church Woman`s Union are holding a Buttery Morning in the Macaulay Hall, Mid Street from 10am till Noon. Usual Stalls.

Friday 16th March

Longhaven Social Club Whist will take place in the village’s Public Hall at 7.30pm.  Entry is £3 including teas.

The Fraserburgh Cricket Club will be holding a quiz night at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre at 7 for a 7.30pm start.

Saturday 17th March

A Cash Bingo night will be held at Abbey Court. Doors open at 7pm. Entry is £2 and includes refreshments, bingo books are a pound each. Raffles available on the night.

Sunday 18th March

Keen gardeners are being encouraged to collect and save seeds ahead of this year’s Seedy Sundays – a gardening, food and drink festival.  The annual event will be held at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw and will provide locals and visitors with an opportunity to swap surplus plants, exchange seeds, share gardening tips and advice and browse the many stalls selling produce and crafts.  Seedy Sundays will take place from 11am until 4pm.  For more information about the event or to receive a seed packet, please contact Buchan Development Partnership on 01771 613666.

Saturday 24th March

Meethill School Buttery Morning, organised by the school’s fundraising committee, will be held from 10am – 12 noon.  Adult entry is £2 and children £1.  Stalls and car boot pitches are £10 each and can be booked by calling Fiona on 07715603786. 

The Cruden SNP Spring Fair and Soup & Sweet will be held in Longhaven Public Hall from 10am – 1.30pm.  To book a stall phone 01779 473557.

An Ecological, Environmental and Mind, Body and Spirit fair will be held in the Ritchie Hall, Strichen 11am and 5pm. Entry is £1 and includes a lucky raffle ticket. Under fives gain free entry. Lots going on including therapists, stalls, charities, guest speakers and more. Any profits made on the day will go back into a community project. The Fraserburgh Cats Protection will be attending to promote how good for you it is to own a cat and will be offering lots of advice and tips.

Sunday 1st April

The Aden Easter Eggstravaganza will feature miniature donkeys to pet and groom, two puppet shows, a traditional Easter egg hunt around the park, children’s crafts, a bird of prey display with Bobs Buddies, miniature train rides, inflatables and a special visit from the Easter bunny.  The event is being organised by Buchan Development Partnership and The Friends of Aden.  For more information telephone 01771 613666

Fiday 28th April

Act Peterhead’s Little Shop of Horrors will take place at the Peterhead Community Centre Theatre on Friday the 27th and on Saturday the 28th of April for a 7pm start. Tickets are now on sale, costing £8 each and are available from Beggs Shoes Peterhead or by contacting ACT Peterhead on Facebook.

Jarvis Court Very Sheltered Housing in Fraserburgh are looking to raise approximately £20,000 to set up a Dementia friendly, sensory garden. They are also looking for a digger, digger driver and skips to remove the turf and bushes. Anyone who can assist with this should call 01346 511 802. Age Peterhead provides a ‘sitter service’ to relieve carers in the immediate local area. Sitters can provide company for short periods of time allowing their family or carers time off to do essential tasks. Usually, sitters are provided by arrangement with Aberdeenshire Social Work Department, but occasionally they can be provided on a private basis. Y Suffer in Silence offer Group Emotional Support, 121 Support and Telephone Support to those suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Mental Health. They meet every Monday and Friday from 7 to 9pm at the Old Thomas Walker Hospital (Above Maitland’s Warehouse) on Charlotte Street, Fraserburgh. Shop & Drop is a local service for anyone in the Peterhead area who may need a little help with their shopping. They will come to your house, pick up you shopping list and money, go to the shop of your choice, get your shopping, take it back to you and they can also put it away for you if desired. A new support group “It’s All About Me” for sufferers of M.E & F.M Chronic Fatigue Syndrome meets at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Lounge Area).
